The Charity Fund “Demining of Ukraine” is an independent, non-profit humanitarian organisation established in response to the масштабні needs of civilians affected by the war in Ukraine. We work to restore people’s right to live safely, regain access to land and critical infrastructure, and support communities in reducing mine and explosive hazards.

Oleh Polishchuk – Chair of the Supervisory Board; Head of Audit and Ethics
A war veteran and a senior specialist in public administration, procurement and compliance with over 25 years of experience in building integrity and internal control systems. From 2014 to 2024, he led the Anti-Corruption Centre at SE “NAEK Energoatom”, where he established and strengthened the compliance function and internal audit, and introduced anti-corruption controls aligned with ISO 37001.
Within the Charity Fund “Demining of Ukraine”, he provides strategic oversight of ethics and compliance, transparency and accountability in the use of funds, conflict-of-interest prevention, procurement integrity and risk management, helping to ensure robust donor assurance and trusted partnerships across the humanitarian sector.
He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration, a law degree, and an MBA, and is a certified ISO 37001 auditor. He served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2022–2023 and has received professional awards in the compliance field.
Inna Polkhovska – Member of the Supervisory Board; Lead for Inclusion, Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination
Inna Polkhovska is a legal scholar (PhD in Law) and Associate Professor, with recognised expertise in constitutional law, human rights and gender equality. She is the author of more than 50 academic publications, including articles in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, and a co-author of a national textbook on constitutional adjudication approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. She has completed international academic training in Germany and serves on the editorial board of a peer-reviewed legal journal.
Her professional focus includes the protection of human rights, advancing gender equality, preventing and addressing discrimination, strengthening democratic institutions and promoting the rule of law in Ukraine.
Within the Charity Fund “Demining of Ukraine”, she provides independent oversight of the Fund’s safeguarding and inclusion commitments, ensuring that policies and practice align with donor expectations and international humanitarian standards. Her role includes monitoring compliance with anti-discrimination and gender equality requirements, reviewing complaints and incident-management safeguards from a rights-based perspective, advising on inclusive recruitment and workplace practices, and supporting the integration of “do no harm” principles across operations and community engagement.
Natalia Prodan – Member of the Supervisory Board; Lead for Accounting Policy and Reporting
A risk management professional and certified specialist in accounting and audit, financial control and reporting, and enterprise risk management. She has over 20 years of professional experience across the financial and non-governmental sectors, including service at the National Bank of Ukraine, with extensive exposure to internationally funded programmes and humanitarian organisations.
Natalia’s expertise spans internal control frameworks, audit and compliance assurance, and oversight of financial and non-financial reporting in line with international donor requirements (including USAID, UNDP and the European Commission/EU). She also has experience supporting the integration of ESG principles within financial institutions. Her core specialisms include developing and maintaining accounting policies, managing project budgets, ensuring the transparency and accountability of not-for-profit organisations, and designing risk management strategies.
Within the Charity Fund “Demining of Ukraine”, she provides independent oversight of accounting policy and financial governance. Her control function focuses on ensuring robust financial discipline and donor-compliant procedures, assessing financial risks and the effectiveness of internal controls, and strengthening budgeting, reporting and audit-readiness across humanitarian mine action projects.
Roman Hekalyuk – Director
A war veteran and certified deminer, Roman Hekalyuk is a specialist in public administration, anti-corruption policy, compliance, and humanitarian mine action. He brings over 15 years of professional experience across government institutions, the energy sector, internationally funded programmes, and the non-profit sector, combining senior governance expertise with hands-on mine action competence.
He holds Master’s degrees in Public Administration, Law, and Finance. Roman has completed specialist training with the GICHD and The HALO Trust, and holds ISO 37001 certification (anti-bribery management). His expertise covers operational planning and delivery in mine action, safety and quality management, risk management, and donor compliance.
Roman has served as an expert on USAID and OECD projects and worked within Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy and anti-corruption functions, focusing on integrity systems, internal controls, and compliance frameworks. As Director of the Charity Fund “Demining of Ukraine”, he is responsible for strategic leadership, operational capability, donor assurance and accountability, and ensuring the Fund’s activities are delivered in line with humanitarian principles and international standards.
Yan Artyukhov Deputy Director, Head of the Mechanised Demining Division.
Yan Artyukhov holds degrees from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University and the Kharkiv Institute of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine.
He has extensive experience in the field of mechanised humanitarian demining, particularly in the organisation of operations, coordination of machinery, and effective implementation on the ground. In addition to his legal and managerial education, he possesses professional expertise in environmental matters, including the protection of flora and fauna during demining activities. He ensures that the Foundation’s operations are carried out with environmental sustainability in mind and in full compliance with international standards.
Oleksandr Huk
Commander of the Humanitarian Demining Unit
Legal specialist with over 20 years of experience in legal support for public institutions and private sector enterprises in the energy, pharmaceutical, and forestry industries.
Since 2023, he has served as a humanitarian deminer and team commander within the Fund.
Combines deep legal expertise with hands-on experience in mine action, ensuring compliance and operational discipline in field units.
Ivan Kondrushenko – Head of Non-Technical Survey and Risk Education
A teacher and certified deminer (EOD Levels 1–2), specialising in Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE). He has an academic background in physics, computer science and mathematics, and has completed specialist training as an instructor in mine/ERW risk awareness.
Since 2023, he has worked with the Charity Fund “Demining of Ukraine” as a deminer and lead for NTS and EORE. He is responsible for planning and coordinating NTS activities, applying robust data collection and verification methodologies, engaging with communities and key informants, and developing and delivering EORE activities to reduce risks to civilians.
Within field operations, he ensures high-quality information management, traceability and proper documentation of results, and promotes innovative approaches to data collection, analysis and use–strengthening prioritisation accuracy and the effectiveness of humanitarian response.
The Demining of Ukraine Charitable Foundation was established in 2023 by a community of Ukrainian volunteers in response to the growing humanitarian needs of civilians affected by the full-scale war in Ukraine.
The Foundation brought together humanitarian demining specialists, human rights defenders, civil society activists, and volunteers with a shared mission — to reduce the risks posed by mines and explosive remnants of war and to help restore safe living, working, and development conditions for local communities.

The purpose of the fund
The Foundation's activities cover a wide range of tasks in the field of humanitarian demining, organization of surveys of territories and prevention of risks for the local population.
The Foundation's goal is to improve safety and provide support to local communities and residents in order to restore the previous functionality of the cleared areas.
Development of the fund
In addition to humanitarian demining, the Foundation's specialists are developing an experimental direction, working together with research institutes and individual specialists in geophysics, agronomy, digital technologies, and working closely with military engineers and pyrotechnics, using the potential available to address mine risk issues.
