About the Project
THE PRICE OF BREADWe Restore Fields. We Restore the Future.
Everything Begins with the Land. From the soil where the seed is sown. From the seed that sprouts. From the ear of wheat that fills with grain. From the harvest that gives rise to bread. For Ukraine, this is more than a natural cycle. The land and bread are part of our history, culture, prosperity, and very sense of home. But as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion, vast areas of Ukrainian land have been contaminated with mines and other explosive ordnance. Where farmers should be working and crops growing, danger still threatens people, communities, and the environment.
That is why BAYADERA GROUP and the Ukrainian brand HLIBNY DAR launched the THE PRICE OF BREAD humanitarian demining initiative. In partnership with the Demining of Ukraine Charitable Foundation, the project aims to clear Ukrainian agricultural land and return it to safe use.
The initiative’s first phase focuses on humanitarian demining of an area near the village of Volobuivka in the Balakliia community, Izium district, Kharkiv region. The first site covers 12 hectares. These are more than just hectares.
This is land that, once cleared, can once again fulfil its essential purpose: growing crops. It means an opportunity for people to work more safely on their land, agricultural production to resume, risks to local communities to decrease, and natural ecosystems to be protected.
Why “THE PRICE OF BREAD”?Because everything begins with a grain of wheat.Grain is where bread begins. And in Ukraine, bread is much more than food. It is a symbol of life, family, hospitality, hard work, and home.
Wheat grain is also an integral part of the HLIBNY DAR brand identity. Supporting the restoration of Ukraine’s fields is therefore a natural extension of the company’s commitment to the country, its people, and its land.
“Supporting the return of Ukrainian land to life is a natural step for BAYADERA GROUP. Bread does not begin in the oven. It begins in the field. And for a harvest to grow again, the field must be safe,” said Anatolii Korchynskyi, CEO of BAYADERA GROUP.
More Than Demining.Humanitarian demining is about more than detecting and neutralizing explosive ordnance.
Its ultimate goal is to return the land to the people.
Cleared land means the opportunity to cultivate fields again, grow grain, restore agricultural activities, and plan for the future without the constant fear of hidden dangers.
For the Demining of Ukraine Charitable Foundation, this is the result that matters most: people living and working in contaminated areas must remain at the heart of mine action, rather than hectares being treated merely as a statistical measure.
Operations are carried out in accordance with national mine action standards and approved operating procedures, with continuous assessment of the security situation. The official order also provides for risk monitoring, engagement with local communities, and recording the results of operations in IMSMA.
Partnership for Recovery. The THE PRICE OF BREAD project brings together responsible Ukrainian businesses and a professional mine action operator with a shared goal: returning land contaminated by war to safe and productive use.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, BAYADERA GROUP has provided more than UAH 120 million in financial, material, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine’s Defense Forces and people affected by the war.
The first 12 hectares under THE PRICE OF BREAD initiative are just the beginning.
The initiative has the potential to expand, helping return more Ukrainian land to agricultural use and enabling communities to live and work more safely and grow new harvests.
THE PRICE OF BREAD is the price of safe land. The price of hard work. The price of a harvest. The price of the opportunity to live on your own land again.
We Restore Fields. We Restore the Future.
